About The Author
Barb Miller Barb Miller enjoys life with her husband Rod in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada. She has always been pathologically creative. As a child she started out with oil painting, then as she got older, that realm of creativity was not often used except for maybe a good game of Pictionary. In her thirties she joined a drama team where she acted and occasionally wrote short dramas. With her specialty being humor, there was a period in her life where she wrote and performed standup comedy. Now, her focus is mainly writing. For her father's 85th birthday she wrote a children's book inspired by her childhood. She has also now completed the second book in that series. What makes this interesting is that she never had children. She often says in jest, "I really don't write, as much as I take dictation from the voices in my head". She is the youngest of four children and always knew that she was uniquely and wonderfully made. Growing up, this is how she was introduced by her parents: "These are our two daughters Ruth and Jeanne, this is our son Dennis, and this is Barbie". She had a classification all of her own. But what she came to discover is that she is not 'different', she's quirky. By definition the word 'quirky' means: unconventional behavior. This definition may be in Webster's dictionary, but it is not biblical. God created her exactly the way He intended, and by His standards, there's no such term as 'unconventional'. Have you ever noticed that within the word 'creative' is the word 'create'? That's because our Creator, God, made each of us creative in our own distinct way. When we are ourselves, God loves it because we weren't programmed to be anybody else. This includes both someone that has a composed and logical personality to someone that has a more light and humorous perspective on life. God happened to make her very creative. Since we are all made in His image, she is convinced that God is not only creative, but has a very good sense of humor too. She also believes that the writers of the Bible wrote by means of inspiration from God. She has experienced this herself in her own writing. She is often as equally amused with what ends up on paper as anyone else, because the ideas and words just seem to happen. Acknowledging and collaborating with inspired creativity gives way for her to honor God by using and sharing the talents He has given her. 'Think Outside the Box… of Chocolates' is a collection of stories, poems, lyrics, devotionals and scripts inspired from when life is nutty to when it gives you chocolate covered nougats of wisdom.
