Freedom, Massachusetts. By 1973, thirty-year-old Connie Lewis sees only irony in the name. She's ready to leave her hometown and move with her recently widowed mother to Forida, freed of financial worry to write the novel that's been languishing in her imagination. The novel's title-Secrets-turns out to be as ironic as the name of her hometown. Her mother, her sister, and the man she befriends in Florida all keep secrets. A nine year journey takes her from Massachusetts to Florida to Oregon. When she visits the Rajneesh community in Antelope, Oregon, she faces the decision of what place she should call home.

About The Author
Sharon L. Dean
Sharon L. Dean grew up in Massachusetts where she breathed in the history that haunts her novels. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of New Hampshire, a state she lived in until moving to Oregon. In New Hampshire, she taught writing and literature at Rivier University. After giving up writing scholarly books that required footnotes, she reinvented herself as a writer of mysteries. Her first novel, Tour de Trace, is set on Mississippi's Natchez Trace, which she once toured on her bicycle. As a teenager, she atttended conferences on Star Island, the setting for Death of the Keynote Speaker. In Cemetery Wine, Dean's reluctant sleuth, Susan Warner, once again confronts a murder, this time uncomfortably close to the New Hampshire farmhouse she calls home.
